TeleMedik continues betting on technology for their healthcare services with the integration of a smart symptom evaluator

- TeleMedik offers their clients a symptom evaluator that incorporates artificial intelligence to automate their healthcare triage process.
- With a trajectory of more than 26 years in the telehealth sector, the company bets on breaking the access barrier to healthcare, offering an impactful experience to all users.
- From now on, all users will be able to do a self-evaluation as well as receive guidance from our nurses and practitioners through the most convenient channel for them, when needed. It also enables the creation of a virtual phone call or video consultation, making the integration of each patient’s own information feasible.
TeleMedik has launched Triage AI, their new triage service based on artificial intelligence by Mediktor, which was recognized and awarded on November 14th at the UCSF Digital Health Awards 2022 for their innovation in telemedicine.
The solution has one clear objective: to provide a precise and rich-in-information triage prior to consultation. It consists of a symptom analysis through an automated and reliable Symptom Checker (> 91.3% precision) that enables the assessment of a patient’s health and redirection to the most suitable specialist with a considerable reduction in time and without any unnecessary commutes.
This service is automated but ensures an individualised accompaniment from a professional to make sure a unique experience is provided during a vulnerable moment such as feeling sick.
The user can access this solution through different channels, making it a flexible option for the various populations and their platforms of preference. Through a mobile app, a computer, or Alexa; a virtual assistant will guide you through the necessary questions required to reach a possible diagnosis. The comprehensive and complete information gathered will be shared with the practitioner, whose clinical judgement will redirect you to the right level of care and provide you with the corresponding education.
Dr. Joaquín Fernández, TeleMedik’s president, sees the new solution Triage AI, as an opportunity to improve the user’s experience and their accessibility to healthcare services:
“It is necessary for technology to be integrated during the whole process, not only in medical devices. The central point needs to be the patient’s interaction with the medical team. We focus on the emotions, the experience, and the user satisfaction as this service’s main differentiating factors. As health experts, educating and redirecting to the best level of care and with the required vulnerability has been our best asset proven over the past 26 years. Now we recognize the need to access those services and we are here to facilitate it using the experience, data, technology, and best practices to make a difference in this field”.
Vicenç Ferrer, Mediktor’s executive director at its NYC headquarters, considers that Puerto Rico is placed at the forefront in the US with TeleMedik’s support:
“Our partner provides Puerto Ricans with a unique platform able to improve health equity and the user experience with the help of the optimization of healthcare services accessibility, in a more secure, convenient, and efficient way. TeleMedik combines a large trajectory in the field with an unbreakable will to offer innovative solutions to patients. It is a long-haul initiative that will have an impact on millions of people, and we hope that it becomes a staple in the sector. On a personal note, this project is especially emotional, given the historical connection between Puerto Rico and my home island, Mallorca”.
Triage AI is available independently as well as being used as a link with other platforms and services. Its focus is on creating an integrated and collaborative experience to address and impact risk factor management such as the need for acceptance, reducing loneliness and social isolation. Studies have proven a trend and TeleMedik wants to make this solution accessible through the channels that best suit our clients. Its potential enables its integration in a website, mobile app, and, for the elderly, the voice service Alexa (MA) to cater to their priority needs.
The design of this initiative seeks to consciously impact the stars at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the demands of regulatory agencies and the needs that distinguish every population in the different markets.
